Open Question: Where is a good place for secluded canoe-in camping in colorado?
I used to live in Arizona and I am looking for the equivalent of Blue Ridge Reservoir here in Colorado. Blue Ridge Reservoir is a dammed up canyon that creates a deep yet narrow winding lake. You load up your canoe at the tiny dock, park your car in the dirt lot above the boat ramp and paddle back into the reservoir a couple miles. As the lake winds back it creates a nice peninsula at every bend and on most of these peninsulas is a campsite. There are no facilities but there is nobody camping next to you and no cars and RVs driving all around you kicking up dust. There is a 5hp motor restriction for boats and the lake is used mainly for fishing, canoing, and kayaking. Each peninsula is like having your own little private island to camp on. It is secluded, the scenery is gorgeous, and there is no hiking so it is easy to bring a cooler of beers and steaks. It is pretty much the most idyllic camping conditions you can imagine. Where can I find a spot like this here in Colorado?
