Google just announced the launch of Google Wallet, a smartphone application that will allow consumers to store credit card information in their phone and make purchases through a chip technology called near-field communications (NFC). The search engine giant has a pretty big vision: To shift the direction of commerce away from paper money and plastic credit cards, to our smartphones. The goal is to literally change your cell phone into your wallet. But will it work?
